In School this year we learned about Uncle Wiggly Wings known as the Candy Bomber.
He was known as the Candy Bomber because he flew planes and dropped sweets in west Berlin during the war. He dropped the sweets in little parachutes for the people.
He was born on the 10th of October 1920 at Salt Lake City Utah United States.He joined the United States Army air forces in 1948. In 1948 he was assigned to Germany to be a pilot in Berlin aircraft.
He died in February 16th 2022, 101 years of age. We made parachutes because he dropped sweets in parachutes.
We made the parachutes out of Halloween Paper cups as it was near Halloween, napkins, string and cellotape. We tested them from a high point in the small yard. Some were a success and some didn’t go too well.
Everyone had unique styles and it was very cool. We got to bring them home which was also cool.
