On 13 October 2023, some children from 4th, 5th and 6th Class went to Ballyraine to play football against Ballyraine NS.
We arrived at around 10:15 AM. After that we got our gear and started warming up for the matches .The girls started first. Playing for the girls’ team were Kelsie, Caitlín, Clodagh, Kate, Paige, Likora, Layla, Ella, Abbie, Grace and Shannon.
When the game started Magherabeg were doing well with some great passing and tackling . Ten minutes later Clodagh played a wonderful pass through to Kelsie who went and put it in the bottom corner! Sadly a couple of minutes later, Ballyraine scored . The girls heads went down after that and Ballyraine went to score five more goals . It was unlucky for the girls but each and every one of them played amazingly.
Next it was the boys time. Playing for the boys’ team were Kayden, Oisín, Luke, Noah, Eoghan, Andrew C, Donnacha, Jaden, John, Darragh, Charlie, Andrew Gnand Senan. They stared off well playing strongly like the girls had. After a couple of good passes, Eoghan played a superb through ball to Kayden. The keeper had no chance and Kayden just curled it into the bottom corner of the net! A couple of minutes later, Ballyraine scored to make it 1-1. Then Ballyraine got a goal kick. They booted up the ball and scored another making it 2-1. Then Kayden dribbled past a couple of players, passed to Eoghan who scored, getting us to 2-2.
Near the end of the game, Ballyraine scored taking them to 3-2. At that the whistle blew and the game ended. We played wonderfully we were just unlucky.
