This week in our Stay Safe lessons we explored the topic of touches and learned about our five senses – sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch.
We are also learning all about Spring and the changes we notice in nature at this time of year. As part of our learning, we went on a Spring Nature Walk around the school grounds. The children brought investigation sheets and used their five senses to explore the environment. They drew pictures of things they saw, heard, smelled, tasted and touched during our walk.
Some of the wonderful observations included hearing birds singing, the wind blowing and cars passing, seeing lorries, butterflies and the beautiful Lough Swilly, smelling flowers and the fresh spring air, tasting the fresh air, and touching the school fence, stones and grass. The children had great fun investigating the world around them using their senses.
We are also learning all about the farm in both Irish and English, and the children have been very busy creating our fantastic farm display in the classroom.
Take a look at the photos below to see some of the wonderful work and learning that has been happening in our classroom this week!
